The Love Knot: His Excellency’s First Love – Thoughts Week 1-2

Moonshine and Valentine Banner

Ah… Romantic fantasy!

I have been patiently waiting for this drama and here it is… in full swing!!! I first became aware of Huang Jingyu’s acting back in November of last year when I watched him in the web BL drama series Addicted. To my dismay, I couldn’t really find him in much else that was subbed, so I was super excited and patiently waiting for this drama. I’m so happy to see him acting again because I really do believe he’s a talented actor who deserves some really great projects.

The romantic fantasy aspect of this drama also has me super pumped. I just finished watching Gu Family Book a few days ago so I’m continuing to ride the romance/fantasy wave.

Here are my thoughts of week 1 and 2 of the show broken into sections, concentrating on characters and certain elements.

My Sunshine

My Sunshine Chinese Drama

Title: My Sunshine
Genre: Chinese drama (mini-series), melodrama, romance
Leads: Zhao Mo Sheng (played by Tang Tiffany),  He Yi Chen (played by Chung Wallace)

Quick Synopsis: They dated back in university. She left all of the sudden for the USA. Years later she comes back and runs into a very bitter ex-boyfriend.

A couple days ago I decided to gently ease back into some drama watching. I watched My Sunshine on Netflix since 4 episodes seemed very unintimidating. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this was a condensed version of a 32 episode Chinese drama (oops). At first I was a little disappointed I didn’t opt for the longer version, but I feel like the main essence of the story was well portrayed in this shorter version. I went back after completing the mini series version and read a bunch of chapters from the novel.
